Inside a river habitat mapping project that took place in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, a University of Tennessee biosystems engineering professor has developed an underwater video system that, in combination with surface videos, gives a complete picture of the stream - the underwater features, depth, materials along the bottom. This will be digitized into computerized maps that will help biologists locate suitable habitat for the park's endangered fish and mussels.
