Transcript

1,200 chestnut trees were prepared at the University of Tennessee forest genetics greenhouse to be planted in national forests in the South. Five hundred of the trees have been selectively bred to be resistant to the chestnut blight, but similar to the American chestnut in every other way. This will be the first time these blight resistant chestnuts will be planted in a natural setting and tested for survival.
