Our Stories: Dr. Neal Eash
I think my philosophy is that students really seek the truth, and it is our job to try to present that truth in a way that is interesting, and a way that forces them to think maybe beyond their comfort zone -- to get them outside of where their comfort is, and to think more about who I am, how I fit in this world, and about how I can make this world a better place. I like it because it is one of the few jobs in the world where I can come in in the morning and decide what question I want to ask myself that I want to find an answer to. That can be anything from the work I do in Africa with conservation agriculture to how students learn; how they think, and what the best way is to do my job, which is to train young adults. I think the one thing about UT is that we really do give faculty the opportunity to be the best they can be. We are making an impact, not only in Tennessee, but also throughout the world. And I think that is pretty cool.
