In Memoriam: Delle Rhue Burgess, curator of the West Tennessee Agricultural Museum

We were deeply saddened by the loss of Delle Rhue Burgess on June 27. Delle Rhue was known and respected throughout the West Tennessee community for her passion for historical preservation and education. During her 15 years as museum curator, Burgess oversaw the addition of numerous artifacts and helped launch the museumís social media presence. She was also instrumental in the Fall Folklore Jamboree and the Milan No-Till Field Day and Cotton Fashion Show. She provided countless numbers of area school children with museum tours and an entertaining history lesson. Few could tell a story like Delle Rhue.

Delle Rhue was a native of Milan, Tennessee. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, and played a role in the establishment of the womenís basketball program, which, of course was later joined by the great Pat Summit. Burgess recalled that experience and her time with Summit in this Knoxville News Sentinel article from 2016.

Delle Rhue's dedication to the museum and her community will be greatly missed. You can view her obituary here.
