2016 Director's Awards Recipients Announced



Each year, UT AgResearch honors employees who exhibit outstanding support service at our AgResearch and Education Centers. The recipients are selected by our Center Directors. This year five, deserving staff members received this distinction. Meet them here.

Dereck Corbin, Research Associate I, Plateau AgResearch and Education Center


“Dereck is always eager to learn and very meticulous and accurate in his record keeping. He is dependable and always willing to take on new responsibilities. Dereck gets along well with coworkers, faculty, and the public. Walter (Fred) Ray, Senior Herd Caretaker, East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center


“I have always enjoyed working with Fred. Since his arrival at ETREC, cattle working has become a breeze. Fred is always present, cheerful, helpful, and makes the “research experience” enjoyable. Angie Thorne, Administrate Support Assistant III, West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center

Andrew Wood, Farm Manager, West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center


“As farm manager, Andrew has pushed our production fields to achieve higher yields. He has implemented precision agriculture to help us better manage production ground and provide data to research scientists. He organizes our shops, barns, and sheds; repairs and maintains equipment; and ensures compliance with UT policies.
