2015 Directors’ Awards Recipients



Each year, UT AgResearch honors employees who exhibit outstanding support service at our AgResearch and Education Centers. The recipients are selected by our Center Directors. This year five deserving staff members received this distinction. Meet them here.



Jamie Evans, Research Associate II, Ames Plantation


“Jamie serves ‘unofficially’ as the Assistant Center Director and serves in many other capacities as well. He works long hours both weekdays and weekends to make sure the job gets done. Terry Ferrell, Senior Plot Caretaker, AgResearch and Education Center at Milan


“Terry brings a unique skillset to the AgResearch Center at Milan. He is a great equipment operator, skilled truck driver, proficient mechanic, ace welder and especially talented carpenter. Steve Gibson, Maintenance Supervisor, West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center


“Steve is a great problem solver. He is responsible for maintaining the entire infrastructure at WTREC. This includes the mechanical and electrical systems for a large office complex, multiple laboratories, residences, farm shops and greenhouses. His skills and stewardship of resources, save the Center thousands of dollars annually.” – Bob Hayes, director, WTREC






James Morrow, Service Supervisor IV, Ames Plantation


“James is a knowledgeable and dedicated employee with 37 years of service. He is one of the best equipment operators I have ever seen - bulldozers and track-hoes are his specialty. He is very involved with our wildlife research, including assisting with tick and mosquito collections for several graduate students. Visitors are amazed at James’ talents and resourcefulness.” – Rick Carlisle, director, Ames Plantation







Cyndi Petty, Administrative Specialist I, Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center –


“Cyndi’s dedication and work ethic are visible daily, and bring great value to our operations. Cyndi often works beyond the usual day to insure timely tasks are completed or field day events are well organized.
